Most of us are not aware that there is a battle for the hearts and lives of our children.
In God's economy, a successful parent is measured differently. Money or a Degree is not as important as letting your children grow up in the knowledge and love of God. Let me repeat. In God's economy, the STANDARD of success is in your kids heart for God.
So where do you start?
Begin with YOUR heart and that will impact your children.
God says in Deuteronomy 6: 5-7 "And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up."
You have to spend time with your children to build a relationship. The Law of Time states: "The more time spent, the more influence". Soon, your children will grow up and have their own life. You cannot always use your SIZE, MONEY or VOICE to have authority. The kind of influence you will have depends on your relationship and what you MODEL to your kids. Do not think that just because you taught, they caught it. It takes time for values to be internalized. It has to be modeled. Remember, MORE IS CAUGHT THAN TAUGHT so WALK YOUR TALK.
The FOUR areas in which you need to teach are :
1- WISDOM
2- STATURE
3- FAVOR WITH GOD
4- FAVOR WITH MEN
Luke 2:52 " And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men"
Wisdom is teaching Gods word and how to apply it. Stature is helping your kids grow and develop physically so that they can achieve their goals. Favor with God is teaching them how to be accountable to God which will result to discernment. It also teaching them to know and love through Jesus Christ. Favor with men is teaching how to be socially gracious.(source: Christ Commission Fellowship)
Help your children reach their God given potential - mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially. Do not delay.
